AGORA DEVELOPMENT STATUS

We are iterating on Agora through a series of playtests, conducted alongside a group of players that we consider super fans of Agora. We borrow the term super fans from Amy Jo Kim's book, “Game Thinking”, in which she categorizes super fans as players who are actively seeking a game like Agora.

We have conducted dozens of playtests with this group of super fan playtesters, along with various longtime UX professionals from the gaming industry.

Playtest FAQ

1. When will the next playtests happen?

   1. Generally speaking, it's whenever we have a new build with a new significant chunk of content worth testing. We strive to run at playtests at least once every other quarter.

2. What determines if I'll be selected or not?

   1. Every time we conduct playtests we'll review our list of candidates, see how well you fit into the category of player we're looking for in that particular round of playtests, and reach out if you're selected!

      The more you align to what we consider to be a super fan of the kind of game Agora is, the better the chance you'll get selected in earlier playtests. The less of a super fan of game like Agora you are, the more likely we'll reserve you for later rounds of playtests (when the game is more polished).

3. If I don't get selected this time, is there a chance I'll get selected next time?

   1. Yes, absolutely. We make an effort to minimize the amount of recurring playtesters we work with across playtest cycles (in order to get as much unbiased/first-time feedback as possible).

4. Are there any legal requirements for playtests?

   1. You'll need to sign a EULA and NDA to participate.

5. Do I get anything for participating in playtests?

   1. You'll be included in the credits of the game, you'll eventually have a Discord role for your participation (once the demo is released), and we've got some ideas for other perks in the future…

6. How will I know if I've been selected?

   1. You’ll be getting an email from the team!

 AGORA LORE REWARDS

Agora is an advanced technology corporation filled with a myriad of fascinating and often mysterious research projects!

When players joins our Discord, they are placed in 1 of 3 research projects: Destroying Angels, Cryptic Bonnet, and Distinguished Inkcap. As players level up in our Discord Research Idle Game, they unlock new research milestones for their project. These milestones include lore drops that flesh out the inner workings of Agora and their research projects.

The information provided in these lore rewards proved to be invaluable in solving the Hack Parthenon ARG, and will undoubtedly be important in the future…
